01
Charging and energy needs at your property
You may want charging where you park, to use solar generation at home or to store electricity for later. Define the main goal before considering a combined system. The right arrangement depends on the site, usage and existing equipment rather than a standard bundle of products.
02
EV charging, solar connections or storage?
EV charging covers home and workplace installations with different users and management needs. Renewable energy pages cover the electrical side of solar PV and battery storage. A battery stores electricity rather than generating it, and its role can differ between a solar-connected and grid-charging arrangement.
03
Electrical compatibility across energy systems
Controls, inverters, chargers and batteries need compatible arrangements. Adding one system can affect the requirements of another. Provide existing model information and records so the installer can assess the combination, rather than assuming products will work together because they each connect to electricity.
04
What the energy installation includes
Project scope can include electrical installation, equipment supply, civil or roof work and network processes. Clarify who handles each part. Permissions and supply requirements depend on the site; neither universal suitability nor a particular saving should be assumed before assessment.
05
Request EV charging and energy quotes
Explain the intended use, property layout and existing equipment. If backup during a power cut matters, say so explicitly: solar panels and a battery do not automatically provide it. Ask prospective installers to explain compatibility, scope and the assumptions behind any proposed performance or financial estimate.
Electrical service questions
Questions about ev charging & home energy
Can charging and storage be considered together?
Yes, but compatibility and the intended use need assessment. A combined project should explain how controls, supply capacity and the separate equipment work together.
Can a project start with only one system?
Yes. State any likely future additions so their implications can be considered without assuming you must install everything at once.
What existing equipment details are useful?
Models, installation records, inverter details, existing electrical reports and site plans can help. Do not open equipment or access roofs to obtain information.
